Preserving Traditional Kimono Craftsmanship through AI
This project introduces JiKi, an AI-based system designed to train and evaluate learners worldwide in the art of kimono making, preserving traditional craftsmanship.
JiKi is an innovative AI platform that trains students from beginner to expert level. It teaches kimono-making techniques while reinforcing Japanese culture and language.
The kimono evolved from the kosode during the Edo period. While fashion remained stable, modernization reduced its use. Today, few masters remain, and JiKi aims to preserve their knowledge.
Students collaborate internationally using skills such as Python, Java, machine learning, and data science. Teams also develop wearable JiBand devices.
